The Whakatane Yacht Club is in its 70th year of operation and during this time has been active in the provision of sailing
fellowship for young and old.
The location of the clubroom on a rock in the river is unique, and makes it a perfect venue for education, sailing
experiences and services for its members.
Within the last 2 years the club has partnered with the Whakatane Canoe club, who use the downstairs facility for boat
storage and to facilitate training on the river.
Club members are made up of both sailors and motorboaters and of course social members who just like to be around things nautical.
The club has a small membership and is always looking for new members.

CLUBROOMS

The clubrooms are available for hire on those dates and times not being used by the club. Please note that in accordance with the Sale and Supply of Liquor Act you are required to obtain a temporary liquor licence for any function that may involve the consumption of liquor within the clubrooms. Fire regulations require that no more than 100 persons are inside the premises at any one time. The premises is not large and we normally encourage groups no larger than 50. Please adhere to the limit for your own safety.
